Like A Morning Sun
He’s very very very happy, he’s been dreaming about her. Decided to make that someone happy, his journey for that quest starts early. Just woke up, dizzy, cold, blurry, but still happy. He checks his correspondence, finds bills, debt notice, and a complaint. He’s still happy, not as much as he woke up though. Takes a breath and heads out exploring the day in this world with happy eyes. He’s anticipating success, he foresees reward, and he visions great expectations. Decided to spend the day walking to his destinations, across the bridge, a car splashes water while speeding. It was a rainy day the day before. The guy didn’t even stop to apologies. People hurt you and move on, it’s our current dreamy world. He’s still happy, not as much as he was heading out.
He’s very happy still - for a day starting with two minor annoyances is a day of joy. Reaching his first destination, a gift store. He’s been thinking to give his good friend a present, for no particular reason. Maybe because he likes to surprise people and wait for that rare smile of joy, of surprise, and of great affection. It’s still closed. He decides to wait at the coffee shop just across the street. Sitting, waiting, he orders some cafĂ©. And even though it’s a place he’s used to, the coffee this time tasted awful that he couldn’t continue sipping. He was still happy, he didn’t want to call the service and complain. It was too early to start complaining.
He decides to sit and just wander around in thoughts. Thinking about the best moments he spent with his friends, the joy of being around his family, success days in his life, love memories from his past and more importantly; his bright future. Everything was good and orange, till he witnesses a car accident. It abruptly cuts his happy mental film with awe and sorrow. It seems like everything tends to end with a bad surprise this particular morning. Now all he can think of are devastation, sad memories, break ups, fights, and as well as starting to feel negative about his future. He leaves the spot, heading back to the shop, and it’s open.
He’s happy still, not as much as he was before the accident though. He enters, spends two hours looking for something special. Nothing of interest. It must not be his lucky day then, he used to find his needs very fast back then. He’s not starting to think whether it’s all worth it, but it’s still the morning, and the sun is shining. He reconsiders, and decides to go to another place. He thinks of flowers, so he heads to the florist. He picks the best flowers and forms the best bouquet he’s ever made, and the biggest too, for he has a great taste of colors/meanings when it comes to it. Happy about his choice, he pays and heads to his friend’s place. On his way, he receives a phone call. He lost a potential client, which means he will be short on money for a good while now.
He’s not happy now, at all, he sits on some steps to think of things clearly. Sad about the news, he looks at the flowers he just bought and start thinking, is it worth it? What’s worth it?
How do you make other people happy when you’re sad?
